A beautiful handmade jug in the distinctive style of the traditional pottery of Tonalá in the Jalisco region of Mexico. It was likely made between the 1950s and the 1980s.

After the hand painting process, the jug was burnished with a porous stone to achieve a glossy finish. The imagery follows a tradition that spans pre-Hispanic times to contemporary works, with designs that showcase cranes and other birds, vegetation, and flowers, particularly the Tonalá flower, present in this jug and emblematic of the region.
