This exceptional ceramic work from the well-known Delhi series by Bodo Mans showcases the characteristic formal language of West German studio ceramics from the 1960s. Produced by Bay Keramik in West Germany, the object combines sculptural lightness with a graphic surface finish. The organically curved, almost boot-like silhouette gives the vase a distinctive, almost playful presence. The slightly raised rim and the small integrated feet emphasize the sculptural character and clearly set the object apart from classic vase shapes. Particularly striking is the colorful decoration: horizontal bands in green, yellow, blue, and red are accompanied by a typical, net-like dot structure that is found in many of Bodo Mans’s designs. The surface is reminiscent of early Fat Lava interpretations, but executed in a finer, more graphic way. The light base glaze provides a calm contrast to the vivid color segments and gives the object, despite its expressive design, a certain lightness. Combined with the unusual shape, it creates a decorative ceramic piece that works both as a vase and as a pure sculpture. Condition: Good vintage condition with light age-related signs of use, minimal scuffing on the edges, and small irregularities in the glaze; overall nicely preserved.
