Charming vintage ceramic donkey figurine from the 1960s. The figurine is marked Made in Japan on the underside and is a lovely example of the decorative ceramic figurines produced in Japan for export during this period.

The little donkey has a particularly endearing, slightly playful design with large upright ears, a long black mane and a sculpted tail. The colour scheme features warm cream, brown and black tones. Reddish-brown hooves and the contrasting inner sides of the ears add further accents. The glossy glaze emphasises the figurine’s typical vintage character.

With its somewhat naive and humorous style, the donkey has a lovely 1950s/1960s kitsch charm and is ideal as a small collector’s item or decorative object.
