Striking vintage wall-mounted coat rack in the typical Sputnik/atomic design of the Space Age era. This variant appears much more graphic and pared back than the colourful version due to its completely black central body and black spherical tips.

Numerous chromed metal arms extend radially in different directions from the rounded oval centre section. Each arm ends in a black sphere and serves as a coat hook for jackets, bags, hats, scarves or accessories. The different lengths and angles of the hooks create the characteristic dynamic Sputnik look.

The coat rack is connected to a round wall plate by a sturdy, curved chrome arm. This positions the hook body well in front of the wall and gives it an almost sculptural effect. The combination of shiny chrome and black plastic strongly recalls futuristic interiors from the 1970s and 1980s.

It is not possible to reliably attribute the piece to a specific designer or manufacturer based on the available images. Stylistically, however, it clearly belongs to the family of so-called Sputnik, Saturn or atomic coat racks.

Condition: 
The condition is good and authentically vintage. The chrome shows light age-related surface marks and fine scratches. The black body and individual spherical tips show minor signs of use and slight areas of abrasion, but overall the coat rack presents beautifully and is complete.
