These 3221 Chairs were designed by Junzo Sakakura and manufactured by Tendo Mokko. The design dates back to the 1950s and was produced again in the 1980s. The chairs feature a clear, modernist formal language with a distinctly Japanese character: reduced, balanced and at the same time organic. The four-legged frame carries a slightly curved seat and a gently rounded backrest that ergonomically conforms to the body. The construction looks sculptural and light, yet remains stable and precisely made. Made from solid beech wood, the chairs combine Western modernity with Japanese craftsmanship and reflect Sakakura’s close collaboration with Le Corbusier as well as his own architectural signature. Condition: Good to very good condition with light, age-related signs of use. Surfaces are well kept, the construction is stable.
