This iconic floor lamp Aton Terra was designed by the Italian designer Ernesto Gismondi for Artemide and is exemplary of the reduced, functional design of the 1980s. Artemide is still today one of the most influential manufacturers in international lighting design and was co-founded by Ernesto Gismondi himself, which further underscores the design authenticity of this model. Characteristic of the Aton Terra is its clear line structure: a slim, vertical steel rod carries the lighting head arranged crosswise, which can be flexibly positioned and enables both direct and indirect light. The minimalist form language is highlighted by the contrasting combination of a black frame and a light-colored lamp body, giving the lamp a graphic, almost technical presence in the room. The compact base ensures stability, while the integrated technology allows precise, functional light control. Developed around 1980, this model embodies the typical connection between engineering thinking and design aesthetics for which Gismondi is known.
