The floor lamp was designed by Israeli designer Ayala Serfaty for Aqua Creations and dates from the 1990s. With its exceptional, sculptural form, it embodies the studio’s characteristic connection between light, craftsmanship and organic form language. The tall, slender body of the lamp opens upwards into a wide, flower-like shade. Particularly striking is the highly textured surface of the light-coloured silk: numerous fine pleats run along the entire body and become denser in the upper section, forming a lively, almost floral structure. As a result, the lamp appears as an independent sculptural object even when switched off. The shade is made of hand-worked silk stretched over a shaping framework. The irregularly curved opening and the inward-running pleats create an organic, flower-like form. When switched on, the textile surface is illuminated from within, producing a warm, atmospheric light. The elaborate treatment of the silk is characteristic of Aqua Creations’ lighting designs. Through the interplay of transparent textile structure, sculptural pleating and the impressive height of 160 cm, the design moves between functional lighting and light sculpture. Condition: The lamp is functional and in good vintage condition. The silk shade shows age-related patina and slight discolouration. Overall, the lamp is a well-preserved example with beautiful, authentic ageing. Dimensions: H130 x D50 cm
