Rare and iconic hangers from the design phase of the 1970s by Ingo Maurer, Germany. The design follows a clear, graphic language of forms and combines functional industrial design with a playful approach to color, for which Maurer became internationally known. The flat silhouette, made from a single piece, intentionally does without classic wire constructions and therefore appears almost sculptural. The softly rounded contours as well as the characteristic opening in the lower area give the hangers a distinct lightness and make them more than just functional everyday objects. The lively color palette in white, orange, yellow, green, and black underscores the experimental spirit of the 1970s and recalls the design context between Pop Art and early plastic design. The set is particularly beautiful both in use and as a decorative element on an open coat rack. One hanger of the black exemplar varies slightly in shape and indicates different production batches within the series.
