Service cart by Cees Braakman for Pastoe, Netherlands, 1950s Iconic service cart by Dutch designer Cees Braakman for Pastoe from the 1950s. The design combines functional clarity with the elegant lightness of Dutch Mid Century design and impresses with its refined, versatile construction. Characteristic features include the black lacquered metal frame, the large spoked wheels with a light tyre edge, as well as storage surfaces on both sides that are fitted differently—giving the cart a different visual effect depending on how it’s used. Particularly striking is the integrated warming function with three hot plates under perforated metal covers, making the service cart an exceptional and versatile piece of furniture. The construction is complemented by a lower bottle holder with four compartments and a generous top surface made of white coated metal. The fine proportions and clear geometric lines give the cart an almost architectural appearance and reflect Pastoe’s progressive design language in the 1950s. A rare and high-quality collectible of European Mid Century design with strong decorative and functional character. Condition: Very good vintage condition with only minor age-related signs of use. Light patina as well as smaller marks on metal and wooden surfaces. Overall, a very nice and well-maintained original condition. Item number: 15700 Measurements: L75 x W46 x H66.5 cm
