School desk with folding compartments, Switzerland, 1960s–1970s Authentic two-seater school desk from the 1960s to the 1970s with a clear, functional design language and typical industrial character. The construction combines a massive wooden carcass with a sturdy steel tube frame and reflects the straightforward design approach that has been used for decades in Swiss schools. Particularly characteristic are the two fold-up writing surfaces, underneath which there are generous storage compartments for books, notebooks, and writing supplies. The inset metal strips and the robust workmanship emphasize the practical nature of this piece of furniture. Thanks to the combination of warm wood, light writing surface, and galvanized steel frame, it has a timeless aesthetic that is appreciated today far beyond the original school setting. The school desk is ideally suited as a decorative standalone piece, as a children’s desk, for retail and gastronomy establishments, or as an exceptional piece of furniture with a nostalgic character. Condition: Used vintage condition with age-related signs of wear. The wooden surfaces show scratches, pressure marks, doodles, and signs of use from everyday school life. The metal frame shows slight signs of aging. The fold-down lids work perfectly and the construction is stable and fully usable. Item number: 15723 Dimensions: L120 x W52 x H69 cm
