Bikini model by Vitra, executed with a chromed wire frame and original seat and back cushions in red leather. The characteristic bikini shape results from the tense combination of a delicate wire shell and softly padded leather elements that appear to float on the metal grid. The precisely crafted base with an Eiffel-tower-like appearance gives the chairs high stability despite their light look and underlines the technically elegant character of the design. The powerful red leather colour provides a striking accent and forms an interesting contrast to the cool chrome of the frame, typical for design-oriented seating of the 1980s.

The Bikini model was designed by Jorge Pensi, one of the influential designers of Spanish modernism, known for his clear lines, ergonomic concepts and the connection of technology and sensuality. The Bikini model is regarded as an iconic design of its time and exemplifies the experimental use of wire structures and padded overlays that was increasingly used in the 1980s. Production was carried out by Vitra, where the model was offered in various material and colour variants.

Condition: Good used condition with only slight age-related signs of wear. The red leather shows a nice, even patina with light seating creases and minor pressure marks, without tears. The chrome frames show occasional light signs of use, overall well cared-for and authentic original condition. Construction stable and fully functional.
