Phantom plastic chair by Verner Panton for Densa Basel, 1999 Expressive plastic chair based on a design by Verner Panton, manufactured by Densa Basel in 1999. The sculptural, organically curved shaping echoes Pantons visionary seating landscapes and experimental plastic designs from the late 1960s and early 1970s. Characteristic is the flowing silhouette with softly modelled transitions, making the chair almost look like a free-standing Pop Art object. Made from rotationally moulded plastic in a vivid orange, the object combines functional seating with a futuristic spatial sculpture. The design is particularly striking due to its monolithic appearance and its strongly reduced, almost biomorphic formal language. The manufacturer’s embossing “Densa Basel” as well as the impressed signature of Verner Panton are located on the underside. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related signs of use, scratches and minor pressure marks on the plastic. Scattered signs of abrasion as well as smaller areas of tension at the shape transitions are present. Item number: 15694 Dimensions: L116 x W35 x H68 cm
