This elegant pendant lamp from the collaboration of Mathieu Matégot with Holophane embodies the characteristic lightness and refinement of French post-war modernism. The design combines a softly shaped, semi-spherical shade made of opalised glass with a slender, downward-tapering metal element; its delicate perforation creates a subtle light effect while also serving as a visual link between the suspension and the shade. The diffuser made of pressed glass shows the concentric ribbed structure typical of Holophane, which scatters the light evenly and enables a pleasant, glare-free illumination. In contrast to earlier versions with visible screws, in this model the glass is mounted in a concealed way, suggesting a slightly later production phase within the 1950s. This constructive simplification points to a development toward a clearer, more reduced formal language and more efficient series manufacturing. The reduced, almost floating appearance makes this lamp a timeless classic that blends harmoniously into both mid-century interiors and modern settings. An authentic piece of French design, convincing through its balanced proportions and the refined combination of materials. Condition: Used, good condition with age-related signs of wear. Light patina as well as small paint chips on the metal, minimal signs of wear on the edge of the glass. Technically functional. Dimensions: L35.5 x W35.5 x H61 cm
