The Shoemaker Chair™ No. 49 is based on a Danish design from 1936 and is manufactured today by Form & Refine in Denmark. Its characteristic feature is the distinctly shaped seat, crafted from a single piece of solid wood. Its organic recesses and gently raised sides give the stool its unmistakable, sculptural form while also providing comfortable seating. The three slightly splayed, rounded legs, together with the stabilising T-shaped brace, form a minimalist yet solid construction. The pronounced natural grain remains visible across the entire surface and emphasises the handcrafted character of the design. The manufacturer produces the model from solid European beech; due to the wood’s individual grain, each piece is unique. Condition: The stool is in good used condition, with signs of wear due to age and use. The wood shows a beautiful natural patina as well as a few minor isolated marks and discolourations. The pronounced grain and knot markings are characteristic of the material and define the stool’s individual character.
