Early example of the iconic grasshopper folding chair by Torstein Nilsen for Møremøbler. The chair designed in 1982 is among the best-known examples of Norwegian furniture design from the late modern era, combining an innovative construction with a distinctive sculptural design language. This specimen comes from the early production period and therefore differs from the versions from the late 1980s that are more commonly found. The defining features are the clear lines, the refined folding mechanism, and the high-contrast combination of light wood and red lacquered support elements. When folded, the silhouette resembles a grasshopper, which gave the design its name. Thanks to its intelligent construction, the chair can be stored compactly and set up in just a few seconds when needed. Today, the grasshopper chair is considered a sought-after classic of Scandinavian design and combines functional innovation with high collector value. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related signs of use. The wood shows minor signs of use and a beautiful patina. The red lacquered elements show occasional age-related marks. The folding mechanism works perfectly. Item number: 15729 Dimensions: L48 x W42 x H80 cm Seat height 42 - 70 cm
