Framed original work with a figurative scene and handwritten notes, 1980s

Atmospheric original work with an expressive, almost sketch-like depiction of a night scene. The composition combines watercolour-like colour fields in blue and grey tones with spontaneous black line work and figurative elements. In the centre is a group of seated figures around a bright light source, while a few standing people at the edge of the image create an almost theatrical mood. The relaxed execution and the handwritten notes in the upper part of the image give the work a very personal and poetic character. The reduced colour palette, the intuitive line work and the expressive visual language recall European graphic and illustration art from the late 1970s to the early 1980s. The artwork is framed behind glass and has, on the reverse, indications of a previous gallery or distribution labelling from Graphik International. By combining drawing, a watercolour effect and handwritten fragments, a decorative art object is created with a strong atmosphere and narrative impact.
