Characterful vintage Flamingo coffee table, designed by Thomas Jelinek for IKEA in the 1970s. The design combines the clear formal language of the era with a striking material contrast between black wood and chrome-plated steel. The curved frame made of chrome-plated steel tubing is particularly distinctive, with its softly rounded corners defining the entire construction of the table. The generous black tabletop has rounded corners and a subtly visible wood grain that gives the dark surface additional depth. A second black shelf is located beneath the tabletop, providing additional space for magazines, books or other objects. The surrounding tubular construction visually connects both levels and gives the table a light and open appearance despite its generous dimensions. Four small chrome-plated metal castors make the table easy to move while also emphasising the functional character of the design. The combination of black and polished chrome gives the piece the typical modern aesthetic of the 1970s. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related signs of use. The black wooden surfaces show slight superficial signs of use. The chrome-plated steel tube frame and the castors show slight age-related marks in places. Dimensions: L 100 x W 100 x H 45 cm
