Rare desk set Maiorca e Canarie, designed in 1958 by Italian designer Bruno Munari for manufacturer Danese Milano. The design is among the iconic office accessories of Italian postwar design modernism and exemplifies Munari’s playful-functional design language. The set consists of three cubic modules in melamine with removable inserts of electroplated aluminium. The individual elements serve different desk functions – such as a pen holder, tray for paperclips or organiser for small items, and an ashtray. Thanks to the modular concept, the cubes can be combined flexibly or used separately. Characteristic is the strict geometric formal language: clear cube bodies meet precisely fitted aluminium components. This reduced aesthetic and intelligent functionality are typical of Danese Milano’s design philosophy, whose objects are now represented in numerous international design collections and museums. The aluminium parts can be removed for cleaning. The underside bears the embossed maker’s mark Danese Milano – Made in Italy. Condition: Very nice vintage condition with no signs of use, never used. Surfaces well preserved, inserts complete and functional. The original box and booklet are also included. Dimensions: 3× L6 x W6 x H6 cm
