Exceptional 1980s lounge sofa with a distinctive postmodern design language and characterful denim upholstery. The model stands out for its soft, almost sculptural curves, the deeply contoured seat and the generously padded arm and back sections, giving the sofa a particularly relaxed and inviting feel. The upholstery is made from dark denim fabric with typical contrast stitching and decorative floral fabric inserts along the edges and side elements. The combination of denim, visible seams and patchwork-like details strongly recalls experimental furniture and fashion designs of the 1980s, giving the sofa an almost Memphis-inspired aesthetic. In particular, the workmanship looks fashion-oriented and clearly sets it apart from classic industrial upholstered furniture of that era.

On the back there is the original fabric label “Galapagos Giant Turtle”. A clear assignment to a known manufacturer could not be verified so far. The label looks more like a boutique, textile or lifestyle label, suggesting that it is either a smaller European atelier piece or a sofa that has been individually and professionally reupholstered. Stylistically, the furniture can be clearly placed within European postmodernism of the 1980s. Thanks to the low seat height, the soft cushion shapes and the unusual mix of materials, the sofa is ideal as a characterful statement piece for modern, eclectic or postmodern interiors.

Condition: Good vintage condition with only minor signs of use. Overall sturdy and with a lovely authentic vintage look.
