Striking “Macumba” ceiling light, designed in 1974 by Ernesto Gismondi for Artemide. The light is a characteristic design of Italian design from the 1970s. At its centre is a large, flat and slightly curved shade made of finely perforated metal. The regular pattern of holes gives the surface a distinctive texture and, when switched on, creates a pleasantly soft and slightly reflected light. An interesting structural detail is the height-adjustable suspension. The position of the light can be changed and adapted to different situations using the spiral cable and pull mechanism. The black metal parts create a striking contrast with the metallic shade. The combination of functional construction, industrial materials and a reduced, almost sculptural form makes the Macumba a typical example of Italian lighting design from this period. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related marks. The metal and black elements show slight signs of use. Dimensions: D83
