Exceptional round extending table based on a design by Dieter Wäckerlin for Idealheim, a characteristic example of Swiss design from the 1960s. Particularly striking is the elaborately designed tabletop with its fine-grained wood mosaic surface, whose varied grain patterns and shades create a lively, graphic overall appearance.

The striking base made of highly polished chrome-plated steel creates an interesting contrast with the warm wooden surface. Two sturdy columns each transition into sculpturally shaped, multi-arm feet. The combination of wood and chrome gives the table an elegant yet technically modern appearance, typical of sophisticated Swiss furniture design of this period.

The extending construction is particularly interesting. Beneath the tabletop is an elaborately executed system of solid wooden rails, guides and fittings. The round top can be pulled apart and enlarged using the corresponding extension elements.

Condition: Good, authentic vintage condition with age- and use-related traces. The wooden surface shows minor scratches, pressure marks and slight irregularities. The chrome-plated base also has age-related signs of use.
