This iconic, height-adjustable Caruelle side table was designed by Georg Albert Ulysse Caruelle for Embru and is considered an outstanding example of functional Swiss design from the mid-century era. Behind its consciously plain and reduced appearance lies a well-thought-out technical concept that makes the table a true all-rounder in everyday life. The combination of warm wood (walnut) and precisely processed steel tubing, copper-bronzed, gives the design a calm, matter-of-fact elegance. The large main shelf is pivotable and can be set both horizontally and vertically, enabling a wide range of uses – from the classic surface to a tilted work or reading area. In addition, the large shelf can be completely removed and used as a serving tray. The construction is complemented by a smaller side shelf that serves as a practical extension, for example for drinks or additional items. What’s particularly refined are the surrounding wooden edges of the shelves, which prevent items from sliding off even in the tilted position. The height adjustment is stepless via the side rotary handles and allows flexible adaptation to a wide variety of situations – whether as a side table, a mobile work surface for a laptop or tablet, or as a place for books. Condition: Good used condition with age-related signs of wear. Light scratches and pressure marks on the wooden surfaces as well as patina on the metal frame; mechanism functioning perfectly and stable.
