This small chair is made of solid wood and features a clear, functional design with a construction of cross-laid slats. 

The seat and backrest consist of parallel-arranged wooden slats, fixed with screws, giving the piece a stable, almost archaic appearance. 

The legs are executed with angular lines and are stabilised by lateral bracing as well as additional diagonal support elements. Notable is the very reduced formal language, which recalls school furniture, children's furniture or even experimental student works from the 1970s and 1980s, where simple materials and clear constructions were foregrounded.

Parallels can be found with kindergarten furniture of Scandinavian or German origin from the 1960s to the 1980s, which deliberately relied on plain, functional construction. A clear manufacturer name is not apparent here, however. 

Condition: The condition is overall good. The wood shows an even, warm patina and is solidly screwed. In some places there are small signs of use, slight dents and minimal irregularities in the wood, which however do not affect solidity. Overall the chair is very stable and well preserved, with authentic character and a nice, honest handmade appearance.
