3 iconic X-Line chairs by Danish designer Niels Jørgen Haugesen, designed in the late 1970s. The design is exemplary of Haugesen’s reduced, constructively influenced formal language and combines Scandinavian design with a light, industrial aesthetic.

Characteristic is the filigree construction made of chrome-plated steel with its eponymous X structure. The seat and backrest are made of finely perforated metal and give the chairs a light, almost transparent appearance despite their entirely metallic construction. The visible intersections of the slender steel rods are deliberately made a design element, giving the design its distinctive graphic effect.

The slightly curved seat softens the geometric construction, while the stackability emphasises the functional character of the design. The X-Line Chair is one of Haugesen’s best-known works and is now once again produced by HAY due to its timeless design.

Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related signs of use on the metal surfaces. Light scratches, abrasion and minor discolouration are present. Overall, the chairs are well presented and fully usable.
