2 iconic Pendulum Balans chairs, designed in 1983 by Peter Opsvik for Stokke, Norway. An exceptional example of Scandinavian design, combining ergonomics, movement and a distinctive formal language. The light beechwood frame is complemented by burgundy leather upholstery on the seat and backrest. The characteristic curved runners allow the chair to tilt forwards and backwards, enabling different active sitting positions. Opsvik developed the Pendulum as an alternative to the classic, static dining chair. The narrow backrest and movable construction are intended to encourage the body to adopt changing sitting positions. The chair is suitable for standard-height tables and works equally well in dining and working areas. An expressive classic of 1980s Norwegian design. Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related signs of wear. The burgundy leather shows areas of abrasion, scratches and discolouration; the wooden frames have minor signs of wear.
