Striking Magis Voido rocking chairs, designed in 2006 by internationally renowned designer Ron Arad for the Italian manufacturer Magis. The Voido is one of the most distinctive plastic furniture designs of the early 21st century. Its flowing, almost sculptural form combines the seat, backrest and rocking runners into one continuous volume. Two large, asymmetrical-looking openings in the side panels lend visual lightness to the solid body and make the design immediately recognisable. The two pieces on offer are finished in classic white. Ron Arad is known for furniture designs in which the classic forms of a chair, armchair or sofa are transformed into organic, almost architectural volumes. This principle is particularly clear in the Voido: the entire armchair consists of a single curved form without a visible frame, legs or separate backrest. The strongly modelled side contour rises high at the back, descends in a soft wave towards the seat and transitions at the front into a broad curve. At the same time, the underside forms a continuous rocking curve. Depending on the viewing angle, the Voido therefore appears more like an abstract sculpture than a conventional armchair. Condition: Both armchairs are in used vintage condition. The white surfaces show age- and use-related marks, including light scratches, abrasion and occasional grey or darker signs of use. These are particularly noticeable up close in more heavily used areas of the seats and on individual edges. Dimensions: L56 x W112 x H78 cm Seat height 50 cm
