This set of 4 folding chairs Eda Concept attributed to Giancarlo Piretti in transparent plexiglass and chrome, Italy, 1970s–1980s, perfectly embodies the functional elegance of Italian design from that period. The chromed tubular structure creates a fine, graphic line, while the seat and backrest in transparent plexiglass capture the light and give the whole a light, almost airy presence. These are chairs that are as beautiful to look at as they are pleasant to use. The seat is comfortable and well-proportioned, and the slightly movable backrest naturally supports the body once seated, making use particularly enjoyable. They have the design intelligence typical of the best folding chair models, with genuine quality of line and a sensation of lightness without sacrificing comfort. Another major advantage is their ultra-flat folding, very practical for everyday use and ideal for easy storage. When unfolded, they create around a table a chic, clear and highly architectural ensemble, with the always successful contrast between the transparency of the plexiglass and the sparkle of the chrome. The set is in very good condition. The chrome is clean and luminous, with slight, normal traces of use. The transparent plexiglass has a few superficial micro-scratches related to time, with no cracks or chips. A rare, refined and very effective set that fits just as well in a modernist interior as in a more contemporary setting.
