OMEGA Speedmaster - 145.022 - C.R.S. - Reference: ST 145.022 C.R.S. Movement: 861 hand-wound Steel bracelet: 1171/1 with 633 connecting links Hesalite glass Bezel: DNN The Omega Speedmaster, born in 1957, is among the most iconic wristwatches ever made. Since 1965, it has been the preferred choice of space programs and, over more than half a century, has been associated with some of the greatest adventures in human history in space—earning it the name “Moonwatch”. The ST 145.022 reference, successor to the ST 145.012, was the first Speedmaster fitted with the 861 calibre. In the early production years, the manufacturing year was engraved on the inside of the case back: 68, 69, 71, 74, 76 and 78. The example presented here comes from the first half of the 1980s and marks an innovation: for the first time, the case was made by C.-R. Spillmann et Cie (abbreviated C.R.S.). From that point on, the year engraving on the case back was omitted. Models from the early 1980s with C.R.S. cases can be recognised by the flatter top of the lugs compared to other versions.
