Polartec Alpha Direct
Originally developed for the US military as an alternative to insulation fillings, this fabric has become popular among ultralight hikers as a replacement for fleece. By placing patented, low-density fibers between air-permeable woven layers, Polartec® was able to create a more efficient fabric for regulating heat and moisture transport.
This innovation increases thermal adaptability across changing conditions and different activity phases.
Alpha is also hydrophobic – it therefore does not absorb moisture, even when you sweat.
Alpha is certified to Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX® – 100% polyester.
