Polartec® is a high-quality premium fabric/insulation technology made for warmth, breathability, and comfort. It is designed to keep heat in without feeling heavy and dries quickly if it gets damp. The North Face uses Polartec® in selected jackets for its reliability and long-lasting performance in everyday and outdoor use.

The underarms {Picture 5} are points of high heat. Zippers are placed at these sections to create breathability by allowing moisture to evaporate, helping you further in staying warm. Brands such as The North Face and Arc’teryx do this with some of their performance lines. The idea is that true warmth is achieved not just by large insulation from the outside air but also by dealing with the moisture of the sweat from the inside through creating breathability at key points.
