Chaco sandals use a continuous webbing system that can be adjusted individually to your foot. Since the straps can pull freely through the sole, they need to be loosened first to slip in comfortably when putting them on and taking them off.
You don’t need to readjust the straps every time after the first setting. To take them off, simply open the buckle, pull on the heel strap, and slide out of the shoe. Next time, just step back in, push the heel to the back, and close the buckle.
