Vintage Japanese botanical brooch meticulously hand-carved from natural abalone shell (mother-of-pearl/nacre), exhibiting exceptional blue-green iridescence with finely pierced and engraved foliate detailing. The composition is centred with a natural Akoya pearl, celebrated for its crisp lustre and refined orient, and secured with a rollover safety clasp.

Abalone shell is among the most prized varieties of nacre due to its intense play of colour, making it significantly more challenging to carve than standard mother-of-pearl while preserving its natural iridescence. Japanese artisans have long been renowned for their mastery of shell carving, producing highly collectible decorative jewellery.
