The back consists of a smooth, sealed metal plate which traditionally encloses protective prayers or desert sand inside. The charm is paired with a sterling silver 925 chain made in Italy, hallmarked 1159 AR (historic jewellery district now known as Arezzo), added later to make it comfortable to wear the jewel.
