Place of origin (Canada): The circular design is rendered in the traditional formline style of the First Nations (Indigenous peoples) of the Canadian Pacific coast. Motifs like this one (often depicting the sun, raven or moon) are typical of the art of the Haida, Tlingit or Coast Salish peoples from British Columbia. The shirt’s vintage look: The shirt has a typically boxy cut (boxy fit), the collar is relatively thick and close-fitting (mock neck), and the black fabric features the characteristic light washout (faded black), as often found on T-shirts from the 1990s. The label: Although the text on it cannot be read, the white woven textile loop at the collar shows the classic format of older Canadian or US brands (such as Alstyle Apparel, Fruit of the Loom or Anvil), before printed neck labels became increasingly common from the 2000s onwards.
