Resistance 2 is a first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and the direct sequel to Resistance: Fall of Man. The game, developed by Insomniac Games, places the player in an alternate version of the 1950s in the USA, where they play as Sgt. Nathan Hale fighting an alien invasion, the Chimera.

Key gameplay changes compared to the first title include the introduction of an automatic, regenerating health system in single-player instead of a health bar, and the limitation to carrying only two weapons at once.

The game features a mix of human 1950s weapon technology and advanced alien weapons such as the “Marksman” and a minigun called the “HVAP Wraith”.

The single-player campaign is characterised by large battles, massive boss enemies and a dark, atmospheric presentation.

Resistance 2 received generally positive reviews, particularly for its graphics, the size of the single-player levels and its ambitious multiplayer modes (Metacritic score 87/100)
