Golden Axe: Beast Rider was released in 2008 for the PlayStation 3 (PS3).

It is an action-adventure hack-and-slash game and the franchise's first full 3D installment.

In Golden Axe: Beast Rider, the player mainly controls the Amazon warrior Tyris Flare in a single-player campaign to stop Death Adder's armies. The game departs from the side-scrolling format of its predecessors and focuses on 3D combat, combining on-foot action with the ability to ride various mythical beasts with unique abilities.

Brutal combat:
Players can perform “barbaric killing moves and dismembering attacks.”

Beast riding:
A core element of the game is slaughtering enemies while mounted on a variety of creatures.

Magic:
Players can collect “tribute” from gnomes to increase their magical power and unlock powerful elemental spells.

Modes:
In addition to the main campaign, there are Challenge and Trials modes to replay levels and fight waves of enemies in arenas.
