"The Bureau: XCOM Declassified" is a tactical third-person shooter set in 1962 that tells the secret origin story of the paramilitary XCOM organization.

Plot:
The story takes place at the height of the Cold War. As special agent William Carter, you must lead a secret US government unit investigating and covering up a mysterious invasion by an alien force known as the "Outsiders." 

Gameplay:
You control Agent Carter and a team of up to two recruitable agents. The core gameplay combines action with strategic planning in the "Battle Focus" mode, which slows time to issue tactical commands.

You recruit agents from different classes (e.g., commando, engineer) with unique abilities that can be used and upgraded in combat.

Permadeath:
A key feature is the permanent death of squad members on missions, making tactical decisions critical.

Cover‑up:
Unlike other XCOM games that focus on rallying the public, this title concentrates on covering up the alien threat from the world.
