James Bond 007: Nightfire for the GameCube is a popular first‑person shooter with an original story, combining action, stealth and vehicle missions (which are missing from the PC version) and is especially praised for its extensive multiplayer mode. 

Single‑player campaign:
The story is standalone and not directly tied to a film, but uses many classic Bond elements and locations, from the Austrian Alps to a space station. The campaign is divided into about 12 missions and features, in addition to FPS segments, dynamic driving sequences with the Aston Martin V12 Vanquish (including gadgets like rockets and EMP) and submarine missions. Players can perform "Bond moments" (silent kills, alternate routes) to unlock extra points and rewards.

Multiplayer:
Considered by many to be the heart of the game, the multiplayer mode offers various game types (Deathmatch, Capture the Flag) on maps based on classic Bond locations like Fort Knox. Up to four players plus AI bots can be added, with a large selection of Bond characters (e.g. Jaws, Goldfinger) available.

Gadgets and weapons:
The game offers an arsenal of high‑tech gadgets from Q’s lab, including a laser watch, night‑vision goggles and a grappling hook, usable in both missions and multiplayer.
