Invited by Nike to create a new sneaker, the NikeLab Air VaporMax x Marc Newson showcases their close relationship in collaboration. Marc drew inspiration for his design from Nike’s latest innovation, the VaporMax platform, and paired the technical Air VaporMax platform with a Flyknit and leather upper.

“Within this project there is a wonderful cultural juxtaposition of know-how and elements. The cross-stitching reflects traditional craftsmanship, while the knit and the sole unit speak to highly technical innovations. It’s wonderful to have the opportunity to work with all these technologies and incredible materials.

You’re immediately driven to touch these shoes and try to understand how they work — they’re incredibly tactile, which is captivating. Ultimately, it’s a product I want to use every day.”
