Coffee table model Arcadia by Vico Magistretti for Artemide Rectangular Arcadia 100 coffee table designed in 1969 by the renowned Italian designer Vico Magistretti and produced by Artemide (Milan) from 1970. Period: 1970–1979 Manufacture date: approx. 1970 Height: 40 cm Width: 100 cm Depth: 70 cm Condition: originally white, has been repainted green. It spent time in many basements, hence its marks. Easy to refresh. The coffee table is made of reinforced resin. More precisely, the material used is called GRP (Glass fibre Reinforced Plastic), a very durable thermosetting plastic made of a thick mesh of glass fibres impregnated with polyester resin. The piece is characterised by its S-shaped legs, typical of Magistretti’s design poetics (forms used in many other pieces, from the Selene chair to the Chimera lamp) which, besides giving the table elegance and originality, also provide stability and strength.
