When Iris and Amanda, who do not know each other, become increasingly dissatisfied with their surroundings, they simply swap homes in Liebe braucht keine Ferien. - Plot of Liebe braucht keine Ferien Iris (Kate Winslet) has been in love with the self-centred Jasper (Rufus Sewell) for three years, who only uses her. When he announces his engagement to a colleague at the Christmas party, Iris is devastated. She decides to go on holiday. Meanwhile, the rich, beautiful and successful Amanda (Cameron Diaz) in L.A. splits from her partner, who had sex with his secretary. She also decides to travel. The two women find each other on the internet and arrange a house swap: Iris flies to L.A. for two weeks and Amanda goes to the English countryside. Life in L.A. is very pleasant for Iris, but Amanda initially does not like the small old house at all. Salvation arrives in the form of Iris's handsome brother, Graham (Jude Law), who, after a boisterous visit to the pub, wants to stay overnight at his sister's. The two get drunk and end up in bed together. Iris, in turn, meets Miles (Jack Black) in L.A., who is currently in a strained relationship. She also meets the old Hollywood veteran Arthur (Eli Wallach), who, at ninety years old, tells her about the post-war film industry.
