Buying and selling secondhand should be simple – and that includes payments, fees and protection. That’s why marko keeps its fees transparent while protecting both buyers and sellers throughout every transaction.
In this guide, you’ll learn:
- what buyer and seller fees apply
- when sellers receive their payout
- what Buyer Protection and Seller Protection cover
- why these protections make buying and selling safer
Selling on marko: The Seller Fee
Every successful sale on marko includes a seller fee of CHF 1 + 1.9% of the item price.
The fee is automatically deducted from your payout, so there’s nothing you need to pay separately.
The seller fee helps cover secure payment processing and the operation of the platform. Most importantly, you only pay this fee after a successful transaction. If a buyer returns the item within the return period, no seller fee is charged.
When do sellers get paid?
As soon as an item is purchased, the buyer’s payment is secured.
Your payout is released once:
- the buyer accepts the item, or
- the 2-day inspection period ends without a return.
The money is then transferred to your registered bank account. Most payouts arrive within 2–3 business days.
What does Seller Protection cover?
Seller Protection is designed to help you sell with confidence.
It includes:
- The buyer’s payment is secured before you ship the item.
- You receive your payout after the transaction has been successfully completed.
- Buyers must send returned items back before any refund is issued.
- The marko support team is available if you need help resolving an issue.
Want to become an even better seller?
Buying on marko: The Buyer Protection Fee

You’ll always see this fee clearly before completing your purchase.
The fee helps fund:
- Buyer Protection
- secure payment processing
- platform development
- day-to-day operations
Please note that the Buyer Protection Fee is non-refundable if you return an item.
What does Buyer Protection include?

It includes:
- Sellers only receive their payout after you’ve accepted the item or your inspection period has ended.
- If your item never arrives or isn’t as described, you can start a return.
- Sellers have up to seven days to ship an order. If they don’t, the purchase is cancelled automatically.
- You have two days after delivery to inspect your item and request a return if needed.
- The marko support team is there to help if any issues arise between buyer and seller.
