For sale is an original Hans J. Wegner JH503 “The Chair” by Johannes Hansen, Copenhagen, an outstanding classic of Danish design art!

The JH503 is one of Hans J. Wegner’s best-known designs. Its timeless silhouette and precise workmanship make “The Chair” a sought-after classic to this day among design enthusiasts and collectors.

The solid teak impresses with its warm, deep colouring and natural patina developed over decades. The characteristic backrest, with its elaborately crafted wooden joint, is testament to Danish craftsmanship.
Original, well-preserved branding stamp from Johannes Hansen, Copenhagen, present. Due to its construction and characteristic details, it may be an early example from the beginning of production, a particularly interesting detail for collectors.

The chair is in a very attractive vintage condition appropriate to its age, with a beautiful patina. The solid wood frame is stable and free of structural defects. The original teak wood and black leather show slight age-related signs of wear, also known as “kicks”. These give the piece its authentic character.
This is deliberately not a chair restored to like-new condition, but an original vintage piece.
